Dressed in his vampirey best, Mickey emcees a collection of frightfully funny, Halloween-themed Disney shorts to the dining Disney clientele. After another two cartoons, Mickey dresses in his sorcerer outfit from Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 and challenges Jafar to a magical duel using fireballs. They witness the House's name being changed to the House of Villains. From here on, the Disney villains are interrupted in between each segment by Mickey and friends trying to get the House of Mouse back. Having just made the move to college, I was disappointed at the prospect of spending my Halloween night alone, with no trick-or-treating, and even worse, none of those Disney Channel specials I was always so crazy about.
Decide for yourself, see it and then you will see what a great tape it is and how perfect for Halloween or anytime when you want a good old-fashioned scare without too much trauma! Little does he know that the ducks aren't the only ones running wild in the house that night. Everything my 7 year old self could want and more. There are no clips from animated features here, but you do get 8 fantastic, high-quality Disney animated shorts, both classic and new! These are Trick or Treat 1952 , Donald Duck and the Gorilla 1944 , and Lonesome Ghosts 1937 , in which Mickey, Donald and Goofy star in what was surely the inspiration for Ghostbusters. Huey, Dewey, and Louie go to their uncle's door for the title act, and true to his nature, Donald tricks them. Mickey, Donald, Goofy and Minnie try to take their House back, but Chernabog stops them from entering the building. Will the mouse and his band of merry characters prevent them? The wraparound animation is nicely done and fun to watch. Rent before you buy, that's my recommendation.
Donald fools his nephews into believing the gorilla is on the house and after they figure out his trick, they do the same to him. Fans of Fantasia and its follow-up will love this one, as it is presented in the same way as those movies. It's Halloween and we get to hang with Donald Duck and his nephews. We get to see them in this famous story in another Fantasia-like segment. Or will Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto and Goofy close the curtain on this band of villains? In fact, these shorts make up more of the movie than the actual plot with the villains. One exception worth noting is Madame Medusa, but I guess that's not a great surprise. Daisy hands it to Mickey who uses the lamp to suck Jafar into it.
It's an anthology set on Halloween in the titular house, a nightclub where characters--including Donald Duck, Goofy, Jafar, Cruella de Vil, and Captain Hook--gather to watch Disney cartoons. The witch Hazel decides to help the triplets by forcing Donald to give them the candy. While a couple of the cartoons were pretty funny, the packaging makes this seem like it'll be a movie about the villains taking over the House of Mouse, and as other reviews have mentioned, such is only an afterthought and a cool song. The best meets the baddest when Mickey comes face-to-face with all of Disney's greatest villains. Five are very recent, with clinically clean computer animation, and three are vintage gems glowing with the warm detailed look of Golden Age Disney.
If Disney shorts are your cup of tea or you're interested to see contemporary cartoons in this mold, then go ahead and check it out as most are worth your time. Music blends with the animation to show how a group of Goofy faires close and open flower buds at night. Still, it would've been a bit more honest of Disney to market it as what it is rather than upping the anty. Kids enjoy it, and I enjoy my two favorites. Mickey and his pals have their hands full when the wicked Jafar teams up with Cruella, Hades, Ursula, Captain Hook, Maleficent and the rest of their cruel crew in a wild attempt to turn the House of Mouse into the House of Villains. So, I say again, this is a compilation of Disney short cartoons with a Halloween theme. Offhand, I can't think of anything that was inappropriate in this program, and I'm a hardcore Disney fanatic.
Lara as The Bad Boy: The Bad Boy is a little scientist but this appears to torture insects gather in the house of villains in the sketch of Goofy's Dances. Young children will love it all, while older fans may prefer a compilation of vintage Disney shorts. Who wouldn't want to see that?! Packed with non-stop mischief and mayhem, and featuring an array of classic animated gems, Mickey's House of Mouse Villains will have the whole family in stitches. He runs into a little trouble by choosing skeptical Donald as his victim though. Donald takes the opportunity to play some pranks on the boys. The classic segments were a great addition! Where's Dana Barrett when you need her? Hilarity ensues as Mickey and friends get caught in the ghosts' tricks. In this one, Mickey, Donald, and Goofy work as ghostbusters.
The rest of the villains run away and the House of Mouse is once again restored. When their king is captured by an insect tormenting child, it's up to the goofiest of the Goofy fairies to save him! However, I've noticed it in Digital form via Disney Movies Anywhere lately. Though the title leads you to expect much more of them; their time will arrive, and appears later in this review. Can Jafar and company take the house? Packed with nonstop mischief and mayhem, and featuring an array of classic animated gems, Mickey's House Of Villains will have the whole family in stitches. It's a charming rendition of Hansel and Gretel starring no less than Mickey and Minnie Mouse in the title roles! The concept and plot of the villians was very interesting.
Jafar has a trick in store for the usual heroes of the House, but the villains have to wait until midnight for him to unleash it. And in fact, they are very good ones at that. There's a perfunctory framing plot with the villains taking over the House, but the 65 minutes is almost entirely filled by eight short cartoons. Much of the new footage is the infamous villainous plot, started by Jafar, for many of Disney's greatest villains taking over the House of Mouse, making it the House of Villains! I mean, all the Disney villains against Mickey Mouse and the gang? Then, the real gorilla shows up and the amusing problems really start. I'm a huge Disney fan and remember several of the cartoons from my childhood. Things go a little haywire though, once he damages his robot servant.
